Wrong, The Canon of Scriptures (Holy Bible) was defined, codified and canonized by the Catholic Church in the 4th century to dispel the gnostic gospels circulating in that period. The Canon of Scriptures was not put together by the church for authoritarian purposes. Jesus and the apostles never declared "sola scriptura". Jesus gave the binding and loosing authority on the church (MAT 16:18-19 ; MAT 18:18). As Paul states, the church is pillar of ground and truth (1 TIM 3:15) not sola scriptura or someone's personal interpretation, because The New Testament Canon was not even finished yet during the apostolic age, and the apostles never envisioned the gospels and their writings to be compiled in one book. Again, The Canon of Scriptures (Holy Bible) was defined, codified and canonized by the Catholic Church because it came from its Sacred Tradition taught by the apostles and preserved by the early church fathers who are all Catholic not protesters of the church. The New Testament Canon was written by the early church fathers (bishops) of the Catholic Church, all the books in the Holy Bible were settled by the Catholic Church in the 4th century from its councils. Even Christian (non Catholic scholars) admits that it is the Catholic Church that preserved and introduced the Hebrew Bible to the world based from its Tradition thanks to St. Jerome:

All the ancient books written by the prophets are named after them because The Catholic Church preserved them from its Sacred Tradition. Even the j-e-ws did not have a compilation of Sacred Books to themselves especially after their temple was destroyed 2000 years ago, that is all from the Catholic Church because the Catholic Church is the church Christ established which protestant removed in their books particularly the Greek Canon (Septuagint LXX) in the 15th century ! The New Testament Canon was written in Greek, scriptures were preserved from Tradition which is practiced by the Catholic Church. The Holy Bible is a compilation of sacred books, that is coined first and foremost by the Early church fathers themselves of the Catholic Church, and is only made available in the 4th century.
