The speaker of Canada's lower house of parliament has apologized and resigned after he invited a World War Two Nazi collaborator to be applauded during a visit by Ukraine's President Zelensky.

Both Zelensky and Canada's Prime Minister Trudeau gave the former Waffen SS soldier a standing ovation for his efforts in fighting the Soviet Union.
