John 7:45 “The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why did you not bring him?"”
Chief priests = archiereus – which is where we get the English hierarchy
Nicodemus = “conqueror”
The name comes from “nikos” which is victory or to utterly vanquish, and “dēmos” which is the people, the mass of people assembled in a public place.
How was Nicodemus treated?
John 7:50 “Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?" They replied, "Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee."”
Is there purpose in splitting John 7:52 from 8:12 with the Pericope Adulterae???
1Co 4:10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things.
