David, I hope you know me as an ally, so I hope you will take this as constructive criticism. In general I find commenting on thing useless as it rarely, but not never, results in constructive dialog. I saw your article this morning as I am on your mailing list and decided to comment as an encouragement to you, even though it seems mostly useless. Since you moderate your comments, what you are also doing as a result is limiting the viewership of the comments. While the time varies, today was well over an 8 hour delay. This effectively removes the ability for early viewers to engage each other. I am aware that you might want to limit comments due to unacceptable content, but then you limit the purpose of comments in the first place. Yesterday I also did a very rare for me comment on YouTube, specifically JP Sears, Awaken with JP, which you are familiar with. He did a video on the BLM organization, and I decided to comment with my typical “Black Families Matter” and gave a link to my website with the BFM artwork. It was censored. I wondered if it was because it contained a link, but links to other YouTube videos are allowed. A resubmission was also censored, but after removing the link the comment remained. At that point it became useless fluff. The idea of dialog with comments seems to be a very good thing, but also extremely rare. For me, at least once it has resulted in a very good long running friendship with someone in Utah that he and I have a foundational disagreement. He is a Latter Day Saint, and we have been having a multi-year dialog on our foundational differences, while we share some other joys in life, and have had the opportunity to be a mutual blessing to a third party. Comments can result in some very good things, but the methods used and limitations placed on them are less than ideal. There are better options, but we have the fundamental problem of who cares since that requires thought and effort. Respectfully, John Kozlowski Posted Comment The masks are the armband of 100 years ago. They are to demonstrate submission. Remember to say “Hail Victory” each time you put one on. I have never worn a mask. When Food City required customers to wear masks, I resolved never to return. Now that they bought Cooke’s in Cleveland, I will no longer use Cooke’s. It is the idea of practicing what you preach, even when it is inconvenient. I’m also a technology guy attempting to provide tools for local market economy, and support the whistleblower, as I am a repeat offender. When I attempt to find allies to deliver the technology, people run scared. Typically they are behind a facemask. I’m an avid long-distance walker. Often I have seen young people walking the other way with a mask and go out of their way to avoid me. They live in fear of something that I don’t fear (Isaiah 8:12). I have something they probably will never get: age. |
