A direct challenge to Jordan Easley and First Baptist Leadership
November 13, 2023 you quoted part of 1st Peter 3:15.
October 22, 2023 you misquoted Genesis 12:3 by reading “you” then stating “Israel”.
You and your leadership were challenged on the twisting of Scripture and current events. Are you ready to give an answer?
Are you familiar with the difference described in Scripture of “Heterodidaskaleō” and “Pseudodidaskalos”? If the first is applicable then there is hope.
You referred to the Barmen Declaration. Have you ever read it? Do you know it is pointing to you as not being part of the Confessing Church?
You stated “It's interesting when you read what Jesus has to say about hell in your Bible. Jesus talks more about hell than he does about heaven”. Do you realize that Jesus refers to heaven over a hundred times and hell only a dozen? Is your reference the Scripture or popular culture?
Have you pointed your congregation to Acts 17:11 to be “examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so”? If you did they might find out what you often state is simply not so. Does that concern you? If it does then the “Heterodidaskaleō” idea should be pursued. Is 1st Timothy 6 applicable? Does it concern your leadership? Does it concern your congregation?
The only other occurrence of “Heterodidaskaleō” or to “teach a different doctrine” is seen in chapter 1 where Paul urged Timothy to “charge” or “instruct” those doing so. This is my effort to be like Timothy noting verse 5 “The aim of our charge is love”.
Acts 17:21 also describes our current culture led by tweets, Facebook posts, TikTok, but not reasoning. The crowds mock, but some think. I welcome dialog with those who think.
Personally I have seen what happens with a little compromise on obedience to Christ. I have been part of Christian collectives that would essentially steal a few dollars. Consider Psalm 50:18 “If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.” Later I was part stealing of millions by my Christian brothers and fired by a brother as a whistleblower. Then I was a bit too close to the killing of a Good Samaritan, Mr. Tomal, by those affiliated with the leadership of the church I was a member of. You can see the video of that at http://Kozlowski.org/CollateralMurder. Do you really want to twist the Scripture or strive for obedience to our Creator?
I often point out the inconsistencies in most English translations of the Bible. Acts 19 provides a humorous but also sad and very applicable example. You have an unruly mob, most not even knowing why they are there (verse 32). Do you not see this today? After things are calmed the chapter ends with “he dismissed the assembly” (“apoluō” and “ekklēsia”). If those words were translated as they most often are done in the same editions the chapter would end with “he divorced the church”. Yes, there is humor there, but unfortunately it seems also a sad reality.
You quote 1st Peter 3:15 “to anyone who asks you ”. I’m asking. Will you practice what you preach (Matthew 23:3)?
1Co 4:10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things.
